About Us

The Southeastern Chapter of the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers includes all of Monroe County, the south half of Wayne County, and the east half of Lenawee County. The adjacent chapter to the north is the Detroit Metro Chapter and to the northwest is the Jackson Chapter.  We are bounded on the east by Lake Erie and on the south by the State of Ohio.

The Southeastern Chapter is comprised of approximately 50 members and is one of 10 chapters throughout the State of Michigan.  We are represented at the State level by the Eastern Regional Vice President.

Our officers are elected annually and include the Chapter President, Past President, President-Elect, two Vice-Presidents, Secretary, and Treasurer.  In addition, we have several standing committees including Events, Scholarship, Membership, MathCounts, and Others.

We generally schedule one Board meeting per month, typically on the second Wednesday of the month.  Most meetings are at 11:45 AM at a local restaurant in Monroe (typically Michigan Bar and Grill or Green Meadows Golf Course).  Occasionally, in order to accommodate our members to the north, we have a meeting in the downriver area.  Meetings are held during the lunch hour and typically are completed by 1:00 PM.  A meeting notice is provided in advance of the meeting.

In addition to our luncheon Board meetings we typically schedule several other events during the calendar year including evening tours to various construction, commercial, or industrial sites, Salvation Army Bell-Ringing, an annual scholarship banquet, the MathCounts competition in February, the Scholarship Golf Outing held in September, usually a summer event to a baseball game or similar and a winter (Christmas) event, which is typically a dinner and show.

We encourage prospective members to contact any of our Chapter officers and attend an event. If you are already a member of our Chapter, it would be great to see you at one of our meetings!
